From November 6 to 8, the 2024 World Architecture Festival (WAF) will be held at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore. Professor Kongjian Yu, an academician of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Dean of the School of Architecture and Landscape at Peking University, will deliver a keynote speech titled "Sponge Planet: Architecture for Survival." Previously, the Turenscape team’s Moutai Eco-Metaverse won the 2024 WAF Water Prize, and the Zhoukou Huaiyang Fuxi Cultural Park was shortlisted for the 2024 WAF Best Landscape Design Award.
WAF is one of the largest and most influential events in the global architecture field. Held in a different city each year, it gathers architects and designers from around the world. The festival combines awards ceremonies, conferences, and architectural knowledge exchange to recognize, share, and promote excellence in architectural design and innovation.
This year’s event theme is "Tomorrow," aiming to explore how trends such as migration, urban expansion, digital technology, artificial intelligence, immersive environments, and cultural shifts will impact architecture, urban design, landscape, and interior design.
Additionally, renowned international speakers will be invited to share their insights on future transformations and how these changes manifest in their work and thinking. Featured speakers include Ma Yansong, founder and principal partner of MAD Architects; Richard Whitehead, Global CEO of AECOM's Buildings and Engineering Division; and Koon Hean Cheong, Chairman of the Centre for Livable Cities at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore.
