The webinar "Climate Adaptation & Resilience: Exploring the Role of Water through Nature-led Strategies and Co-design," hosted by the Landscape Institute (UK), will be held in June 2025. Kongjian Yu, Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Professor at Peking University, and Chair of the Climate Change Response Committee of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture, will deliver the keynote speech.

This webinar is a key part of the 2025 program of Workstream 8 (WS8) under the UK Construction Industry Council (CIC) Climate Change Committee. Led by the Landscape Institute, WS8 focuses on climate adaptation and resilience, particularly in three critical areas: water management, biodiversity, and urban thermal environments. These themes play an essential role in the global response to climate change, covering adaptation, mitigation, and recovery strategies.

As climate change continues to disrupt global water cycles, risks such as floods, droughts, soil erosion, and water pollution are intensifying. Water—covering nearly three-quarters of the Earth’s surface—plays a foundational role in building resilient ecosystems and adaptive infrastructure. This webinar will bring together leading experts from landscape architecture, urban planning, water management, ecological restoration, and policymaking. Participants will share innovative outcomes and practical experiences across various projects and scales. Key topics include Sponge Cities, carbon sink ecosystems, community-led placemaking, and the systematic integration of blue-green infrastructure, exploring how to develop healthy, inclusive, and climate-resilient water systems.
