According to the ASLA’s homepage, there are 14 Honor Awards for general design, 4 for analysis & planning and 8 for residential design. Remarkably, 3 of them are located in China, that is, Floating Garden in Taizhou by Turenscape, Lite-On Electronic Headquarters in Taibei by SWA with Honor Award for general design, and Crosswaters Ecolodge in Guangdong Province by EDSA with Honor Award for analysis and planning. Among them, Turenscape from China is the only team besides its American competitors to win such honor. "The Floating Gardens" is a case concerning ecological rehabilitation and reconstruction of Yongning River in Taizhou, Zhejiang province. Based on a flood-friendly concept, designers employ plenty of native species to protect the riverbank, which adds to ecological diversity in the riparian area and turns the previous channelized riverway in to an attractive recreation site. This park makes a combination of storm water management, native species protection with citizens’ daily recreation activities, hence promote landuse intensivism and provide nice environment in the most effective way. Early in March this year, it was awarded with "China Habitat Environment Prize model" by China's Ministry of Construction. ASLA professional award jury speaks highly of it as follow: "Arresting architectural forms playing off natural vegetation create a sensory experience. Nice work!" Founded in 1899, the American Society of Landscape Architects is the national professional association representing landscape architects. Beginning with 11 original members, ASLA has grown to more than 16,200 members and 48 chapters, representing all 50 states, US territories, and 42 countries around the world. ASLA promotes the landscape architecture profession and advances the practice through advocacy, education, communication, and fellowship.
