The exhibition of Chinese City and Architecture

　　The exhibition of Chinese City and Architecture with the topic of Detours: tactical approaches to urbanization in China is exhibiting from October 23 2006 to March 10 2007 at Faculty Of architecture landscape and design college of Toronto.  This  exhibition were curated by Adrian Blackwell and Fei Zhao. The publication in English with 200 papers which contain many project and thesis about Chinese current architecture and urbanization will come out next year. 

　　11 Projects are on display. All of them are the most practical architecture and city planning in China nowadays. It involves kongjian Yu (TURENSCAPE): Negative Planning (Taizhou, Zhejiang), Urbanus: City/Village (Shenzhen), Huang Weiwen (Shenzhen Urban Planning Bureau ): “Street street” Huaqiangbei street (Shenzhen), Ou Ning and Cao Fei (Alternative archive): The Da Zha Lan Project (Beijing), Wang Hui (NENO): Dashanzi masterplan (Beijing), Ma Qingyun (MADA S.P.A.M.): Snake Mall (Wuxi),Yung Ho Chang (Atelier Feichang Jianzhu): Jianchuan Museum Town (Chengdu), Liu Jiakun (Jiakun Architects): Jianchuan Museum Town (Chengdu), Hsieh Ying-Chun (Atelier 3 ): New Socialist Village(Hebei ), Ai Weiwei: Beijing 10, 2003, Wang Shu (Amateur Architecture): New campus of the China Academy of Fine Art (Hangzhou). 

　　Negative Planning (The Growth Pattern of Taizhou City Based on Ecological Infrastructure, Taizhou City, Zhejiang). In this master plan Turenscape focuses on the preservation of a historic irrigation system as a network for ecological and recreational use through the city around which to organize future urbanization. Despite its economic successes China, home to 16 of the world’s 20 most polluted cities, is in the midst of an environmental crisis. Turen’s inversion of the priorities of urban development considers ecological sustainability as the foundation of city design, opening up possibilities for the amelioration this ongoing disaster. This project winned ASLA Honor Award, Analysis & Planning, 2005.
