Motivation letter fragment:

"This letter is describing the teams key approaches to the concept for the ZaryadyePark Culture, Public Space and Participation in between the Red Square, the river and Kitay-gorod it is hard to imagine a more diverse environment. In order to reach social cohesion and a liveable cityscape and park the introduction of cultural program has an essential function. It can if wanted attract visitors from outside the area, create more public awareness and safety and strengthen, educate and unify the city. Also smart use of playgrounds and sport fields are generators of success. An intelligent combination and strategic use of the public program can lead to spectacular results. Also the public space design is a key to a good and healthy city. The park must become a place with its own set of values. It should transmit an openness and flexibility, allow for spontaneous and planned activity and conserve the district’s transitory character, while saturating it with new meanings: the function of a city park situated in the heart of this huge metropolis. Visionary plans need public support."

Motivation letter fragment:

"Most great central parks in great cities are historic – the Tuileries in Paris, Alexander Garden in St Petersburg, and a handful of other wonderful examples. But there are a few recent examples to be studied such as Millennium park in Chicago, Gardens by the Bay in Singapore and West Kowloon in Hong kong. These provide lessons in how to bring innovative programming, aesthetics, and contemporary notions of open space while mixing in existing elements. Russia and Moscow are moving forward, but the place and its history remain. The design must merge historical, cultural, societal, technical, and aesthetical influences in to an inextricable and beautiful whole embodying Modern Moscow"
