Bangkok’s Benjakitti Forest Park transformed a former tobacco factory into a 102-acre green space that mitigates flooding and improves water quality. Guided by sponge city pioneer Kongjian Yu, the park uses wetlands and permeable landscapes to store up to 23 million gallons of rainwater and naturally filter it before release. It enhances biodiversity, provides much-needed public space, and stands as a climate-resilient model now inspiring other cities worldwide.
