Another Effort To Preserve The Industrial Culture

2002-08-01 Source:Turenscape
During an academic lecture with the government officials of Shenyang, Dr.Kongjian Yu analyzed the development background and the psychological status of the local community, at the same time also indicated his opinion on how to preserve the existing condition of the Shenyang refinery, a large industry area that should have been removed. Keeping the existing workshop and altering it according to its state and current requirements will help to keep the remains for the city and its future generations. The design should offer the viewers the memories of the communist industrial years, at the same time it should offer a sense of the city’s historical past, which belongs to the city, and shapes the future life of its residents. Dr. Yu’s suggestion immediately got the approval from the government officials. Furthermore, Turenscape has got appointed to make the conceptual planning. After preparation for some time, Turenscape submitted the project conceptual plan to the mayor of Shenyang city couple of days ago. With the mayor’s agreement to the plan, there should not be any modification about the area until related plan is being carried out. As of today, the decision implies the attitude of the local government; it shows a great deal of conservation idea behind preserving the native industry culture, as well as recognition of Turenscape’s current state in the field of landscape architecture in China today.
