Project Profile

Shenzhen downtown central square and south axis is located in the central Futian District, north to the Shenzhen Citizen Center, south of the Convention and Exhibition Center, with Shennan Avenue across the site and Jintian Road on its east, Yitian Road on its west, covering an area of about 45.6 hectares, including five plots: Citizen Plaza, Shuijinniao District, South Plaza, South District One, South District Two.

The Central Square is an important part of the axis public space system in downtown area of Shenzhen, which is a transition zone from the central zone to administrative culture zone and to the business zone. It is located in the geographic center of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, back against Lotus Hill to the north and facing Shenzhen Bay and Hong Kong in the south, with mountains in the backdrop and overlooking the sea.
The South Axis is surrounded by commercial office buildings, hotels and convention centers which is not only an important part of the axis public space system, but also the center of CBD.

The design needs to achieve the following objectives:
an important window for the construction of city image
the most dynamic and influential core of the region
public open space with the highest value
a place with humanity for civic gathering and recreation
model for sustainable urban ecological construction.

The design obeys the following concepts:
With the respect for the place spirit and implement of "Eco - Information" axis as the prerequisite, to fully utilize the natural landforms and native landscape elements of "Pearl River Delta" area, giving full consideration to the dual physical and spiritual needs, to maximize the interactional communication between people and the environment and themselves and create a healthful, ecological green space for the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
