Project Profile
The Mengzi Center Area, will be the autonomous region-level administrative offices with a planned land area of 84.8 hectares (1,272 acres) located in Mengzi County in Honghe Hani & Yi Minority Autonomous Region. Hehong Autonomous Region is located in the southern portion of Yunnan Province with an area of 32,931 square kilometers and a population of 3.83 million, where ethnic minorities are 54% of the population. For thousands of years, the ethnic groups of Hani, Miao, Yao, Dai, Zhuang, Lahu, Buyi, Hui and Han have lived here and together have created a vibrant and diverse culture. Mengzi County is located in center of the Honghe Autonomous Region. It is located 322 kilometers north of the provincial capital city, Kunming, and 42 kilometers west of Gejiu City.
The modern and functional design maintains regional characteristics and integrates ecological design and economic demands by:
Selecting a central location where visitors and residents can admire the area from around the region
Selecting prominent topography and utilize the topographic contrast to enhance the project
Constructing a water feature that acts as a gathering place for visitors
Designing buildings with clean and simple lines; with the spirit of the plateau associated with the white walls
Preserving thousands hectares as an ecological conservation area, maintaining the tropical atmosphere of the forests and grasslands
Creating terraces for farming, allowing farmers to work in the mountains and along irrigation canals
Offering north-south connection on Hone River in order to convenient local people’s lives.
Creating an urban plaza as a cultural exhibition space and an outdoor retreat within the city
Creating an identity for the area that unifies the cultures
