Jiujiang Art and Culture Center

Project Profile

Jiujiang Art and Culture Center is located in Jiujiang County. The site is located in Jiujiang County, Jiangxi Province, east of the city's main thoroughfare— Yuanming Avenue, west of the Youth Cultural Center which is under construction, north of the City Square Park, and south of the city’s residential area which is on the other side of the road. The site is characterized as having a gully and a heap of soil which is 3m to 4m high. The design focuses on the heap of soil locating in the site and the relationship between the building, the Government Plaza and the Lushan Mountain. The design integrates the heap of soil in the site, and the building is surrounded by an annular earth platform, which is terraced and planted with bamboo. People can communicate on the platform. Entrances open in each direction of the building and at the same time reduce traffic noise and external interference to this building. A gentle slope wetland connects the Government Plaza naturally. Rainwater harvesting is considered both for the building roof and the floor. The rainwater on the roof is used for the irrigating of the plantation on the roof, which can insulate heat during summer and keep warm during winter, relatively reducing the cost of the building. The building is designed with ground rainwater harvest system , the water can be used for the ground landscape irrigation and also for water in Performance Square.
