Project Profile

1. Project Statement

The water system landscape project of Haidong Science and Technology Park is located in Haidong area of Qinghai Province, adjacent to the Huangshui River in the north. The Huangshui River flows through the whole territory from west to east, and the terrain is high in the south and low in the north, and slopes from the southwest to the northeast. The area where the Haidong Science and Technology Park is located is dependent on mountains, waters and cities, and the terrain is undulating and uneven. The design is built around the central water system and the waterfront landscape belts on both sides of the bank, creating a landscape pattern of "one river, two belts, and multiple nodes", which is organically combined with the surrounding mountains, water, and forest belts to form a beautiful landscape of mountains, water, city, and forest.

2. Objective and Challenge

Design goal: Through the design of landscape enhancement and increased open space, Haidong Science and Technology Park will be transformed into an ecological leisure belt integrating research, display and experience, so as to enrich the types of leisure activities for Haidong people and improve the service infrastructure in the park, Create a characteristic Haidong Science and Technology Park. It forms the golden triangle of Haidong Economic Zone with Pingdong Economic Zone and Hepingbei Economic Zone, thereby enhancing the image of Haidong city and forming a new bright spot in Haidong.

The project faces three major challenges:

(1) How to solve the problem of high sediment content and serious pollution in the introduced water source of the central water system in the park?

(2) How to display rich humanistic amorous feelings of eastern people's and enrich life style through design?

(3) How to integrate technological production and corporate culture engage into landscape design and present them?

3. Design Strategy

Haidong Ecology: The design adds a sand purification system, creates a cascade waterscape and water level control according to the height difference of the site, organizes the collection and ecological purification of the rainwater in the site, and then becomes the rainwater supply for the central water system to build ecologically healthy and sustainable water system.

Haidong Lifestyle: Rich and varied waterfront landscape, continuous waterfront boardwalk, diverse landscape weir, in addition to gatherings, fitness and other leisure venues on both sides, enrich the lives of haidong people and increase their regional identity and sense of belonging.

Haidong Production: Excavate the new potential and new attributes of landscape design of The Haidong Science and Technology Park, design enterprise displays platform and supports technology production services in various forms, such as intelligent control and visible operation. Additionally, the design could create more interactive experience space by increasing the way of communication between employees and customers, enterprises, parks and society.

4. Conclusion

When you approach into the Haidong Science and Technology Park, you will step into the ecological and cultural journey, experiencing the ecology of water landscape, appreciating the feelings of Haidong people, understanding the unique township characteristics of Haidong area, and returning to the natural leisure simplicity. The designed water landscape belt of the Haidong Science and Technology Park has become a green ribbon, connecting the leisure culture corridor on both sides in series, together with the shelterbelt around the road and the greening system in the sub-plot together into an ecological green network.
