Project Profile

1.Project Statement

In the new era of ecological civilization, the north bank of the Yangtze River is poised to change from a production-type shoreline to a living-type and recreational-type shoreline, becoming the starting zone for urban renewal.

In view of the problem of splitting of mountains and rivers, splitting of people and rivers, splitting of city and rivers on the north bank of the Yangtze River, the design is based on the concept of Meeting Again and Well-being, sewing water, shore, road and city in the horizontal direction, and sewing the ecology, recreation, industry, culture and style in the vertical direction. The horizontal and vertical connection makes the mountains, rivers, people and city reunite here, achieving harmony between human and nature.

2.Design Strategy

Our design includes five strategies: Ecological Improvement, Recreational Amenity, Industrial and Economic Strengthening, Cultural Enhancement, Design and beauty:

(1)Ecological Improvement Strategy

Hydro-Fluctuation Belt Restoration:Aiming at the degradation of ecological functions and poor perception of the floodplain and shallow hilly-type water-fluctuating zone, the ecological succession is accelerated by vegetation restoration to achieve greening throughout the whole area.

Reconstruction of Embankments: In view of the problem that the exiting engineering embankment is not ecological, unsafe, and non-hydrophilic, it will be transformed into an ecological terrace to create a reciprocating embankment to achieve elastic hydrophilicity and retain rain.

Habitat Conservation: For the disturbance of human activities and the separation of habitats, the Elf Mountain is constructed as a biological corridor to protect and repair the habitats of Shanhuba wetland park and Diaoyuzui park.

Brownfield Restoration: For the hard ground of the yard, soil pollution and other issues, the brownfield restoration is realized by ecological methods such as perforated sponge, piled slope and overburden.

(2)Recreational Amenity Strategy

For the problems of urban traffic is not convenient, difficult to enter, difficult to experience and other issues, build a recreation system.

Road System: realize the horizontal connection of the motorway to the urban road network and the vertical connection with all project sites.

On-land Slow-moving System: Elf Mountain and Forest Bridge are connected horizontally to the waterfront of the mountain city, and the main pathway runs through the site longitudinally. The railway bus system connects to the nine major stations, with commuting and recreation functions.

Water Slow-moving System: connecting the two rivers and four banks, the Three Gorges tour, setting up cruise ship terminals, marinas and water bus stops to achieve water roaming.

Vertical Transportation System: For the complicated vertical traffic of the mountain city, inconvenient travel issues, create a “BUS ladder” system, including straight ladders, escalators, automatic ramps, cable cars connect with waterfront pathway, slowing walkway. It cross railways and highways and connect the mountain town to make the mountain city as convenient as the flat area.

Public Space System: Optimize the use of characteristic space along the dam, beach, and peninsula. Arrange the rich public spaces such as the viewing platform, the square, the lawn and the flower sea.

Supporting Facilities System: to create smart and warm supporting facilities such as the well-being station, the Bangbang industry will be transformed and upgraded here, and Bangbang station will be built as a unique service system for the mountain city and embrace the new era of 5G. Realize the combination of stop and go, and create a map of leisure emotions.

(3)Industrial and Economic Strengthening Strategy

In view of the problems for industrial relocation, industrial transformation, and dock renovation, reduce the secondary industry along the Yangtze River and increase the tertiary industry, create a high-quality life service chain and high-quality development of the tourism industry chain, and build water and land economic belt.

The Life Service Industry: Linking city commercial facilities, sports centers, and city parks to bring a beautiful life to riverside.

The Tourism Industry Chain: Focus on creating famous attractions on the Internet and launching new festivals to prosper the Yangtze River. Creating water tourism, historical humanities, artistic creations, and slow-moving vacations to achieve global tourism.

(4)Cultural Enhancement Strategy

Cultural context construction: Retaining the historical relics, transforming and utilizing industrial heritage, and creating a cultural context that perceives urban history, displays industrial civilization, and moves toward ecological civilization.

Interpretation System Design: Create an experiential water and land culture interpretation system, and contact the riverside and urban cultural nodes.

Theme Corridor Design: To create the “Boat Tracker” historical and cultural corridor, the “Creative Chongqing” railway cultural corridor, and the “Green Chongqing” ecological civilization corridor.

(5)Design and beauty

Layer construction: Highlighting the four layers of clear water, cruise ships, green shores and mountain towns to build beautiful scenery.

Facade renovation: Lightweight intervention and skin intervention to improve the facade of the riverside building and show the beautiful mountain city.

Bridge Design: Showcase Chongqing as a “Bridge City” through innovative and elegant bridge design.

Nightscape creation: The key areas create a lighting festival, highlighting night landmarks such as Chaotianmen Square and Jiulong Port Leisure Park.

Characteristic Scenery Belt: The north bank of the Yangtze River will be transformed into a historical landscape, a green new city, and a natural and pure beauty. Every step on the north bank of the Yangtze River will have different beauty.

Create a beautiful picture of the north bank of the Yangtze River through the integration of five strategies of ecology, recreation, industry, culture and scenery.

The design is mainly divided into three major functional zones:

Historical Humanities Zone: The historical memory and humanistic feelings of the Yuzhong Peninsula are implanted into the design and integrated into the experience. Here, the beauty is to watch two rivers along with the history of Chaotianmen. It is the beautiful Chongqing light and shadow at night, the romantic touch of hard work on the road of the tracker and the market life that is deeply rooted in people's hearts.

Green New Town Zone: Transforming the brown land into a green frame of the new city. Here, the beauty is the multicolored palette that is overturned under the shade of green. It is the green corridor of the international humanities peninsula that can see the river in the future, and it is a flourishing new green area on the industrial ruins.Natural Pure Beauty Zone: Do the minimum intervention, protect the forest river beach and ecological terraces. Here, the beauty is the green mountains and clean water of Chongqing, and it is the natural scenery of the Yangtze River.

3.Conclusion

On the North Bank of the Yangtze River, we are committed to ecological return. We design a green ecological corridor, to achieve 35.3 km of hydro-fluctuation belt green connection, to preserve 277 hectares of animal habitats and to restore 113 hectares of brown land.

We designed a cultural experience corridor, retaining 10 historical sites and transforming and utilizing five industrial heritage sites.

We designed two green industrial chains that bring high-quality living services to millions of Chongqing citizens every day, bringing high-quality travel experiences to more than 500 million visitors every year.

We designed three convenient and accessible recreation systems, include 24.9 kilometers of public railway trains, 35.3 kilometers of bicycle lanes, and 38 kilometers of water buses. Set up, three Elf Mountains, 11 Forest Bridges and 33 BUS ladders.

We designed three distinctive riverside scenery, 6.5 kilometers of historical humanities belt, 17.2 kilometers of green new city belt, and 11.6 kilometers of natural beauty belt.

We hope that the Yangtze River and Chongqing reunite with each other, compose new songs, and become a green symphony of beautiful city with green mountains and clear water. We hope that a beautiful life will be expanded from the Jialing River to the Yangtze River, and Chongqing will take this to the world to bloom beautifully.
