Three urban functional cores, harmonizing a green new district
Sapphire Necklace: With the goal of being ecological, cultural, livable, and work-friendly, the design of the Daxing New Town core area fully considers the characteristics of the site. The existing flood detention reservoirs are transformed into a continuous rainwater management system and integrated with the urban green space system, becoming a fundamental urban landscape infrastructure. This forms the sapphire necklace of the new district, conserving land use, improving urban environmental quality, and enhancing land value.
Greenway Network: Using the sapphire necklace as a framework, multiple diagonal greenways are established and combined with pedestrian and bicycle systems, forming a pleasant green transportation and recreation network. This network is the ecological and cultural foundation of the new town construction. The layout of residential, office, and administrative functions will fully utilize the advantages of the green network, gaining sustainable ecological and health benefits.
Subway as the Core: The new town layout is centered around subway stations, organizing the transportation network to fully leverage the connectivity advantages of Beijing’s main urban area, forming a compact and efficient urban structure.
"Three Centers and One Necklace": The urban functional layout emphasizes the mixed use of land, highlighting the connections and symbiotic relationships between functional areas while considering mutual exclusion. This is embodied in the "Three Centers and One Necklace" urban functional layout structure. The three centers are relatively independent but interconnected through pedestrian greenways, each with convenient and independent external connections, without interfering with each other. The conference and exhibition center is located on the southern periphery of the core area, considering the disadvantages of large single-function bodies interfering with urban life and traffic, as well as their dependence on external transportation.
