Project Profile

The Rio de Janeiro Olympic Park, located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, aims to provide a comprehensive master plan for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as post-event development. The master plan proposes three modes:

1. Event Mode: Ensuring the optimal operation of the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic events in the Barra da Tijuca area.

2. Post-Event Mode: Achieving sustainable development, increasing the functionality of the Olympic Training Center, and providing a model for meaningful sites for Rio's future decades.

3. Transition Mode: Offering a planned, effective, and economical transition from event mode to post-event mode.

The park's planning is based on the design of green infrastructure, integrating biological habitat systems, rainwater collection and treatment systems, sewage treatment systems, and power supply systems into the site's life systems. The core highlight of the event planning is the "Olympic Root," a pedestrian bridge system and its associated canopy structures. The core design concepts of the post-event mode include rainwater treatment, sports urban living areas, and mixed communities, reflecting the principles of a green city and a sports city.
