Project Profile

1. Project Statement

To support the development of Sanya as an International Tourism Island and to balance urban development while addressing existing ecological issues, the project incorporates the concept of a sponge city and the BLOCK urban development model. Sanya Lianggu is envisioned as an experiential urban complex built on a rain garden.

2. Objective and Challenge

Sanya Lianggu is located near Sanya Railway Station, serving as the northern gateway to the city. Although the surrounding area is currently underdeveloped, this project aims to create a new urban activity center that will contribute to balanced urban growth. The project's goal is to leverage its transportation advantages and attract tourists, making it a new destination for tourism and residential living in Sanya.

3. Design Strategy

The project's core strategies are ecological and integrated development. The overall plan includes commercial, entertainment, hotel, and residential functions. The two main design features are an ecological foundation and experiential spaces. The ecological foundation is based on the sponge city concept, which involves rainwater infiltration, retention, storage, purification, recycling, and drainage to improve the area's water environment. The central "cool valley" and rain garden serve as key landscapes, using climate resources to create an integrated ecological design that regulates the local microclimate and provides park-like open spaces. The plan offers residents and tourists a fully immersive experience, including tropical rainforest-style living and diverse shopping and entertainment options.

  • Commercial and Entertainment Complex: The total building area is 320,000 square meters, with 220,000 square meters counted for zoning purposes. The design focuses on themes and experiences, with commercial spaces centered around an indoor cool garden and an outdoor cool valley. Features include the world's largest aquarium and a flight experience center. The architecture is inspired by a canyon, with layered designs that create interactive spaces between indoors and outdoors, enhancing the spatial experience.
  • Hotel: The total building area is 76,500 square meters, with 50,500 square meters counted for zoning purposes. The hotel development leverages the location's transportation advantages and the project's comprehensive offerings. It caters to various guest needs, including tourism accommodation, leisure experiences, weddings, and business events. The building is designed with a single-sided layout and an atrium to ensure good indoor ventilation.
  • Residential: The total building area is 840,000 square meters, with 640,000 square meters counted for zoning purposes. The target market is mainly middle-class buyers from outside Sanya. The design focuses on offering high-quality products at affordable prices. Drawing from successful international residential designs, the project creates livable homes tailored to Sanya's climate. The product range includes 85-square-meter quick-sell units and 105 and 125-square-meter main units. The main units feature a 4.2-meter ceiling height for flexible living spaces, with wide views that bring outdoor scenery into the home.

4. Conclusion

Through integrated and ecological development strategies, this project will become a new tourist destination in northern Sanya, improving the area around Sanya Railway Station and contributing to the city's tourism and ecological development.
