Project Profile

Suzhou Zhenshan Park is an open urban park located in Huqiu District along Huajin Road. The design of the park respects the site's natural conditions. Guided by the dual strategies of building a "sponge park" and creating a "productive, low-maintenance landscape," the project transformed a once-damaged mountain and a continuously degrading landfill into a productive, low-maintenance, and resilient urban park. It maximizes the use of existing site resources, meets the leisure and recreational needs of citizens, and has become a city park where "green mountains are visible, clear waters are in sight, and a sense of nostalgia is preserved," making a significant contribution to the construction of a resilient city.

The core of Zhenshan Park is a slow-movement system approximately 1 km in length that connects the northern and southern sections of the park while linking various functional zones. This system consists of steel grate boardwalks and red fiberglass benches, forming a linear functional experience zone that integrates walking, sightseeing, resting, and environmental education. The completion of the park has improved the urban environment and quality of life, enhanced the town's image, actively responded to the national Sponge City initiative, and serves as a model for ecological restoration and environmental improvement in the Suzhou area.
