The entrance corridor of the Youth Cave Scenic Area in the Hongqi Canal Scenic Zone resembles a red silk ribbon fluttering across the Taihang Mountains. The Hongqi Canal "Taihang Sky Ladder" is located at the entrance of the Youth Cave Scenic Area in Lin County, Anyang City. The structure primarily consists of walkways, with some sections integrated with functional buildings. It covers a construction area of 1,314.41m², a ramp area of 1,918.25m², and spans a length of 353.77m.
The "Taihang Sky Ladder" on the Hongqi Canal employs a bold and romantic red aesthetic to address a highly constrained and complex terrain. Through a winding elevated walkway, it skillfully resolves a series of challenges, including pedestrian flow, vehicle traffic organization, spatial experience, science education, and landscape preservation. With minimal intervention and a contemporary design language, it pays homage to the great spirit and magnificent landscape of the Hongqi Canal while interpreting the ethos of the new era.
The sloping structure is positioned above the scenic area’s entrance parking lot, maximizing the limited ground space for parking. At the same time, it spans a provincial highway, separating the entry route for visitors from through traffic.
The elevated, meandering sloping structure connects with the mountain-climbing trail, minimizing disruption to the original site and transforming the previously complex hiking route into a simple yet engaging experience—comfortable for walking while offering scenic views. Tourist reception and commercial spaces are seamlessly integrated into the linear walkway, making visitor circulation and functional space usage more logical and intuitive. The use of steel structures, metal materials, and wood ensures that the building materials can be recycled to the greatest extent possible.
