This project is located in Erdaobaihe Town, Changbai Mountain, Jilin Province. The site is situated at a relatively high elevation within the town and faces a vast forest of Beauty Pines and the converging waters of the Erdaobaihe River. A key design challenge was how to leverage the site’s unique location to create a strong scenic experience while also establishing a distinct identity that would turn the area into a vibrant urban destination for Erdaobaihe Town.
A pedestrian bridge was introduced along the site's natural topography to meet the needs of both local residents and visiting tourists for slow-paced travel and scenic viewing. The design creatively integrates supporting service buildings to transform the area into the town’s landscape balcony and public living room.
The design approach is rooted in the site’s natural conditions and proposes functional zones with differentiated characteristics. By leveraging and integrating the site’s existing resources, the project enriches the spatial experience and increases vitality. This results in four layers of experiential themes: Active Living, Dynamic Movement, Pleasant Serenity, and Natural Ease. Viewing towers, civic activities, and the urban skywalk are linked together, with various materials used to express a modern, clean, and stylish aesthetic. Through accessible design, both visitors and local residents can stroll along the elevated walkway, enjoying a unique aerial experience above the landscape.
The project’s core value lies not in overly complex design interventions, but in the integration of scenic viewing, multi-functional services, and pedestrian circulation. This has greatly enhanced the site’s landscape quality and established it as a lively, engaging destination for the people of Erdaobaihe Town.
