Project Profile

The project is located in Guilin City, Guangxi Province. Luming Bridge is a slow-traffic landscape bridge situated in the central area of the planned project, spanning the Lijiang River and weaving between the sandbanks and islands. It connects the east and west riverbanks and provides an alternative slow-traffic option besides boating on the river.

The bridge is a large-scale structure with full barrier-free access throughout. It has a total length of 420 meters; the pedestrian deck clear width is 2.5 meters, and the bicycle deck clear width is 3 meters. The overall structure uses staggered upper and lower steel trusses, with the structure concealed within the side panels. In form, Luming Bridge takes inspiration from a water bird spreading its wings in flight, shaping the bridge into a visually graceful and expansive form. Structurally, modern engineering techniques are applied to achieve maximum lightness using the staggered steel truss design, perfectly integrating structure and function. Functionally, the bridge is divided into two levels: the upper level serves as a pedestrian space for stopping and enjoying the scenery and birdwatching; the lower level is for non-motorized vehicles, facilitating separation of pedestrians and bicycles while maintaining connectivity. As pedestrians travel on different levels above the Lijiang River, the changing height of the bridge provides varied views and scenic experiences.

The design inspiration comes from “a white egret spreading its wings, a bamboo raft stirring green waves.” The upper pedestrian space acts as a birdwatching platform. Using concealed structural side panels, the design integrates form and lighting, connecting the upper and lower platforms to form the shape of a water bird spreading its wings in flight. The bridge weaves between sandbanks and forested areas, appearing faintly like a ribbon floating above the Lijiang River. Walking along it feels peaceful and leisurely.
