Project Profile

Magang is an island of 12 square kilometers; the site of the plan covers about 8.3 square kilometers. The villages whose outskirts are mainly agricultural land are arranged around the mountains. Besides of 30 hectares of industrial land in the north and 120 hectares of university land in the southwest, the site mainly consists of wetlands and forest areas which count more than 70% in total.

The conceptual phase of the plan includes detailed studies from the regional scale and site scale. The regional-scale study focuses on analysis and strategies for four industries: tourism and leisure, real estate, industry and transportation.

Travel and leisure market position: to provide the residents of Shunde and its neighbouring cities daily recreational programs, one-day trip and weekend trip destination and to form a city-level recreational network to connect the surrounding scenic areas.

Vision for the Magang’s real estate industry: the industry faces opportunities and challenges. From both the regional perspective and the site scale, Magang District gains advantage form its geographical location, traffic conditions, and its natural and cultural conditions. The district has good real estate potential, suitable for high-end property development. Considering the future market needs, the real estate development can grow to a larger scale without undermining other purposes. Meanwhile due to the strong real estate market potential of Magang District, it is better to plan and control the real estate development of the region in advance. The site’s industries include three aspects: high-tech R & D institutions, continuing education bases, training centers, rehabilitation centers and convalescent facilities. With its excellent water transport conditions,

Magang has a good geographical advantage for the development of industry; while the existing dike-pond culture, the Lingnan traditional village cluster patterns, the excellent environment and the adjacency to the downtown core area of Shunde indicate Magang’s rare advantage in developing leisure services.

The site-scale studies include three aspects: socio-economic, history and culture and villages spaces; in which the second one consists of agricultural systems and ecological environment. In the site scale there are two aspects, the agricultural system aspect and the biological system aspect.
